The dragon is a legendary mythical creature that is prominent in Chinese culture and Feng Shui, also known as Chinese geomancy. It represents power, strength, wisdom and good fortune, and is thought to be the embodiment of the Chinese emperor. It is believed that by having an article bearing the dragon on one’s body or in his home, it acts as a personal talisman to ward off evil and bad luck. The Dragon King is believed to have had 9 sons, with each of them bearing different abilities but as powerful as one another. On its own, the number ‘9’ itself also carries significant meaning, as it represents longevity and eternity due to its homophone with the Chinese character for “everlasting”.
