This silver medal is dedicated to the legendary warrior, Eric Bloodaxe. Nicknamed Bloodaxe, he was a Norwegian king in the 10th century and the last independent leader of Northumbria.
He was the son of the "Blond King" Harald I. He briefly ascended to the throne of the Kingdom of Norway, but was deposed by his brother Haakon I and fled to Northumbria.
