OBVERSE COIN DESIGN
The obverse design of the coin features a mighty tiger, majestically portrayed with a vibrant display of orange coloured Portuguese-inspired patterned tiles.
Embellishing the background are lotuses, the city flower of Macau, adding to the intricacy of the coin design. The accompanying text are also thoughtfully arranged to resemble the Map of the Macau Peninsula.
REVERSE COIN DESIGN
The reverse design features the St Lawrence’s Church, one of the three oldest churches in Macau, in high relief minting technique. Located within the historic centre of Macau, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the St Lawrence’s Church stands on a hillside and its churchyard is raised from the street level. A neo-classical structure, the main façade of the St Lawrence’s Church has two symmetrical towers, one with a bronze bell and the other with a clock, giving the church a distinct solemn appearance. Presented from a low angle perspective, the presentation immerses collectors, revealing the majestic sight of the church as one takes the iconic stairs leading towards the main entrance.
