The Abduction of Europa is a very interesting scene from Greek mythology. The main character, Europa, is a Phoenician princess who has lived in a rich kingdom under the patronage of King Agenor and has never left it. Suddenly, one night in the middle of the night, she has a fantastic dream that the goddess of fate is going to take her away and assign her to Zeus, the king of the gods, as her lover. In reality, Zeus, who had always been a lover of flowers and sex, was impressed by her beauty and purity. Zeus was already married, but he was terrified of his jealous wife Hera and was afraid that his sudden appearance might scare Europa, so he came up with a trick to turn himself into a white, strong bull and hide among the herd. He ordered his messenger Hermes to drive the herd to the sea, where a group of girls were playing with Europa and gathering flowers. The beautiful Europa, dressed in a long skirt, gathered flowers and wove them into a garland. At this time, Zeus had slipped into the midst of them and came to Europa. He does everything he can to make the beautiful, kind-hearted Europa grow to trust and like him, and succeeds in getting her to come close to him and kiss him. He then lies at her feet and finally manages to trick her into riding on the back of a bull. Having achieved his goal, the bull runs off with her to the sea and swims to Crete. It was then that Europa realised he had been tricked and was horrified. When they arrived at this new place, Zeus took on human form and tempted her into submission. Europa was in agony until the dream goddess of fate actually came down with her young son Cupid, then she came to her senses and accepted her destiny. She eventually joined Zeus and gave birth to three powerful and wise sons - Minos, Radamantis and Sapphodon - and she became the goddess of the land. From then on, the land was named after her and was called Europa, which is today's Europe.
